Cavachon in Basket

My groomer’s name is Susan.  She is a very nice lady.  My mom had no idea where to take me when I needed my first trim.  She thought that she would be able to do this herself; after all she had been cutting my toe nails!  But, she came to find that I would never be still enough for her to give me a haircut.  So, she asked my veterinarian for advice about where to take a Cavachon for grooming.  He suggested Susan because he knew her pets and they looked good and were happy animals.

But, Susan did not have a Cavachon (doesn’t anyone care about my feelings?)!

When my mom called her, she talked to her a while about the whole process.  Then – the big question – was she familiar with grooming Cavachons?  Well, Susan did know of Cavachons and would be happy to take me on as a “client” (she never really said if she ever cut a Cavachon’s hair before or not….) So, working with what she had discovered in this one phone call (I was shocked because my mom can spend longer than that finding a recipe for the perfect carrot cake!) my mom actually made an appointment to leave me alone with a stranger just for a haircut! I was shocked!

Well, it all worked out OK.  The first time I went there, I could tell my mom was nervous to leave me.  When she came back to get  me I thought she was going to cry (I have to admit, I  was really happy to see her as I was not quite sure what was going on.) She said that she did not recognize me!  Now I was scared – I wanted to cry, too!  Was she still going to take me home?   Then, she picked me up and gave me a big hug and said I looked like a “big boy” now!  We were both happy and proud!  Soon, I was in the car on the way back home and my mom gave me a treat.  Before long I was sound asleep!  It had been a big morning for this Cavachon!

I have a Cavachon also. His name is Shadow and he is 9 months old. When I took him to the groomer (Petco)I had no idea what he was suppose to look like so I told her to take half of his fur off. He was so soft and so adorable. I loved how he turned out.
His big problem is he loves to chew everything he can get his teeth on. He has a Peagle brother, that is 7 yrs old that had toys for 6 yrs that Shadow has destroyed. Plus new ones we’ve bought him. Any suggestions.

I have a Cavachon. He name is Krickett. He is 6 months old. He is the best dog I have ever owned. I try to do everything for him that is good for him. Including, finding a groomer that will do him justice. I take him to petsmart. The girl who does his hair is awesome. I just told what I wanted and she did it. He is a very loving, and has been easy to train in every way. I was reading in another article about this breed of dog and was really upset when they were compared to a mutt. I think they are the most beautiful animal and the best companion. the first of this year my boyfriend had heart attack and had to quit working. Krickett has been a god send for both of us. He is truly not a mutt, but a part of our family.

Hello. I just had to say how much I’ve enjoyed your stories. You have a wonderful way with animals and I love your little ‘doggy’ comments. I think you really should write a children’s book with Kasey as the main character. It would sell like hot cakes.
I have found a good breeder and will be taking one of her pups near the end of June. The lady said I could take her at 7 weeks, but I think thats too young. I can’t wait to bring ‘Suzy’ home to be my wonderful companion.
Thank you for a really enjoyable read.
    Fran.

I agree with you that 7 weeks is too young to bring a puppy home. I believe that they still need to be with their mom and siblings at that age. Most of the things I have read and heard advise 8 weeks as the minimum. I have heard of some breeders not letting their pups go until they are 12 weeks old. We got Kasey at 8 weeks.

I am sure you are anxious to get Suzy! You are in for a wonderful, loving companion! Congratulations! Please send a picture of Suzy after she is home with you.
